Current Books and Projects
I just published my final Grumbles compilation, "The Death of Grumbles," which can be purchased here! This is the last year of Grumbles strips that were published in Atlanta's Sunday Paper, as well as some extras.
This issue includes unpublished strips, as well as the story of my amazing trip to Italy to talk about Grumbles, and a preview of my upcoming "True Tales" series.
Artist Don Thomas and I finally finished our magus opus, The Astral Crusader, which can be purchased at Indy Planet or through Graphicly.
It's a 2 story all-action issue, with extras. First, a battle royale between the Astral Crusader and Doctor Death to save America from socialism. Special appearances by President Eisenhower, Joseph Stalin, and Elvis. The second story pits the Astral Crusader against a world-wide alien invasion, who have a grudge against the planet earth.
Return with us now to the thrilling comics of yesteryear, when heroes were heroes and villains were mostly commies. A loving tribute to comics of the early 1960s.
Writer Bobby Nash and I just finished our first Lance Star comic, Lance Star: Sky Ranger "One Shot!", which can be purchased here!
November, 1941. Ace Air Adventurer Lance Star accepts a dangerous mission into an enemy stronghold to stop the Nazi's from uncovering plans for a weapon long believed destroyed. Featuring high-flying adventure, aerial dog fights, explosive action, this book is pure pulp fun from start to finish.
I created and edited an anthology called Real Magicalism. It's a comics and prose collection filled with stories about that certain state between waking and sleeping, the nexus between the real and unreal, where things aren't always what they seem. Available here!
Contributers include Mark Campos, Egg Embry, Jason Flowers, Ron Fortier, Chris Hamer, Jesse Jarnow, Gonzalo Martinez, Bobby Nash, Jessi Nelson, Jaymes Reed, Terry Staats, Damion Suomi, and Matthew Warlick.
My second comic (and my first fictional one) is Daemon Process, a supernatural tale of death, love, computers, and an ancient, evil book. This is my first fictional comic, and I'm very proud of it. If you'd like to buy the final, finished 48-page graphic novel, you can get it at IndyPlanet.
For a short time, you can read it in its entirety, here.

Detached is the very first comic I ever created, at the ripe old age of 45.
It's about my experience as a visual artist, being suddenly diagnosed with a detached retina, and about the fear of blindness, as well as the doubts and images of doom that go through one's head when one experiences this (well, in my head, anyway...).
It's a rather personal tale that I'm uniquely qualified to tell.
Grumbles was a weekly web and newspaper comic where I got to channel my angst about what I see as the the ills of society, from my viewpoint as a, uh... grumbly sorta guy.
Published on the web, and formerly in Atlanta's late, lamented Sunday Paper, Grumbles has alternatively reassured or disgusted its readers for well over 6 years. Collections of the weekly strips are available on Indy Planet and Lulu.

Recently I was lucky enough to be included in Not My Small Diary #13, which, oddly enough, is all about luck... I'm also in NMSD #14, released this year.
First created by Delaine Derry Green in 1996, Not My Small Diary, is a compilation of autobiographical comics by a diverse contributor base, and has spanned 14 issues.
